Esports

WVU Esports has become one of the premier collegiate varsity esports programs in the country since launching in October 2021. Our mission is to build a thriving esports community at West Virginia University that creates a diverse and inclusive culture, advancing opportunities in esports and gaming for all people at WVU.

Your support helps WVU Esports to:

  • Continue to provide scholarship and travel opportunities for our players to compete. Our four varsity esports teams have traveled to nine states to compete in tournaments, claiming four national championships and competing in one world championship event.
  • Provide better equipment to serve the needs of our players and student workers. We want to ensure that our players have everything they will need in our facility at University Place to be able to compete at the highest level.
  • Improve the production value of our broadcasts and other content we create. In addition to our 20 varsity esports players, we have a media and broadcast team that consists of more than a dozen student workers, who produce live broadcasts on Twitch and YouTube multiple times per week and produce all of the original content used to market the program online and on social media.

The esports industry is constantly evolving, and collegiate esports continues to grow every year. We hope to help our community continue to grow and stay at the forefront of the best of the best in college esports, giving our students the chance to compete at the highest levels and chase their dreams of playing at a professional level while also helping them be competitive in the job market as they look to start their careers after graduating from West Virginia University.

No matter how big or small, your donations make an immediate impact and are greatly appreciated by all of our students and staff members.
