Safety & Health Extension

WVU Safety and Health Extension (WVUSHE) provides comprehensive training and resources to ensure the well-being of our residents and workforce. The National Resource Center, OSHA Training Institute Education Center courses provide continuing education to specialized industries like, maritime, general industry, construction, and oil and gas. WVUSHE provides the hands-on education and expert guidance needed to build a safer, healthier workforce.

Through the Shirley M. Kimble Training Center, an American Heart Association training program, we offer a wide range of first aid and advanced life support training for the public and healthcare professionals.

But we can’t do it alone. Your support helps us expand critical training programs, improve workplace safety and prepare workers for the jobs of tomorrow.

Through the WVU Mountaineer Micro Academy our micro-credentialing programs provide individuals with recognized certificates that enhance their professional qualifications. By working hand-in-hand with industry leaders, we develop innovative courses and stackable credentials that not only keep employees safe but also strengthen West Virginia’s workforce pipeline—ensuring workers have the skills they need to succeed in high-demand fields.
