How can I get involved and spread the word?
Please post about the Day of Giving on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or LinkedIn using #WVUDayofGiving. Be sure to check out the social media challenges for ideas on what to post! Do you like sharing on social media? If so, becoming a social media ambassador is a fun way to get involved and help share the message about the Day of Giving. Why should I participate in the WVU Day of Giving?
As West Virginia University works to move the state and the University forward toward the road to prosperity, building a foundation to provide opportunities for students to learn, grow and thrive in our state is critical. Your contribution can help WVU accomplish amazing things. It can help a student fulfill a dream, research new cures and advance entrepreneurship to invest in the state economy. The possibilities are endless.
What is WVU Day of Giving?
WVU Day of Giving will take place on March 9, 2022. For 24 hours, students, alumni, patients and friends come together to support the University. Day of Giving serves as a convenient opportunity for Mountaineer Nation to contribute to the purposeful transformation being done at WVU, focused on improving higher education, improving healthcare and improving lives in West Virginia and beyond.
When is WVU Day of Giving live?
WVU Day of Giving will begin Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at midnight EST and will run until 11:59 p.m. EST to allow for donations to be made for a 24-hour period.
Is there a minimum gift amount?
West Virginia University is accepting gifts of $5 or more during Day of Giving.
Can I designate my gift to any area throughout WVU?
Yes! You can support any area in the WVU System on the WVU Day of Giving, including WVU Medicine, Potomac State College, WVU Tech and many more.
I don’t see my preferred gift designation. What should I do?
Under fund designation select “other” and enter the fund where you would like your gift to be designated. We can also assist you by telephone at 1-866-693-7153.
Is there an administrative fee?
A portion of all donations is used to fund further advancement efforts on behalf of WVU where applicable. For more information, visit: https://www.wvuf.org/about/fees-assessments.
Can I create a recurring gift?
Yes, you can make a recurring gift by selecting the recurring gift option on the gift form.
As a WVU faculty/staff member, can I give via payroll deduction?
Yes, please complete this form and your new payroll deduction gift will be counted. A full year's total will be counted towards Day of Giving.
Did you make a tribute gift?
Day of Giving contributions that are in honor or in memory of someone are displayed on the digital donor wall. To notify your tribute in writing that a donation has been made in their name, click here.
Will payments on existing pledges count?
No, payments on existing pledges do not count. However, we encourage you to consider making a gift—no matter the amount—to help an area or program you're passionate about.
Want to make a gift to more than one area?
Simply select “ Add another gift to your donation” on the donation screen. This will allow you to make a gift to more than one area of WVU within the same transaction.
Is my Day of Giving contribution tax-deductible?
Yes, your gift is entirely tax-deductible. The WVU Foundation, Inc. is an independent, tax exempt, 501(c ) (3) charitable organization (Tax ID 55-6017181). Your official gift receipt for tax purposes will be emailed immediately after you make your gift. Please consult your tax advisor for advice related to your specific tax situation.
