The WVU Cancer Institute counts on passionate and caring members of the Mountaineer family, like you, to fuel our pursuit as we work to lessen the cancer burden in and around West Virginia.
Each of the following programs represents a powerful opportunity to aid the Cancer Institute in carrying out its mission:
- The Institute's new mobile lung cancer screening unit (LUCAS) travels to 42 of West Virginia’s most rural counties, providing state-of-the-art screening closer to home. The program features a research component designed to place us at the forefront of innovative, non-invasive screening modalities. LUCAS had screened over 160 individuals since it hit the road in September of 2021
- Soup for the Soul is a program that provides free lunches to patients while they undergo chemotherapy and infusion treatments. Just $3.00 provides one meal, delivering nourishment and comfort. Nearly 10,100 meals are provided annually.
- The Cancer Institute General Fund fills the financial gap left by standard funding. This powerful tool ensures that no valuable need is left unmet. The fund regularly allows for the acquisition of unique technology, recruitment of physicians/researchers, and support of research and clinical trials.
