WVU Humanities Center

Your support is critical to help WVU’s Humanities Center go above and go beyond. We rely on passionate, loyal and caring members of the Mountaineer family, like you, to provide important opportunities for our students, faculty and staff, community partners, and the greater WVU community. In a rapidly changing world, the humanities help us better express, absorb, interpret, and share the “story of us” as humans. They aid us in unpacking our identities, societies, and cultures as well as equip us to face formidable problems by giving us tools to better understand this complexity.


Your support empowers the Humanities Center to create incredible opportunities, including …

  • WVU’s Campus Read, A book, programming, and author visit that provides a common intellectual experience across the university’s campuses, colleges,  departments, and programs, while focusing on building strong connections and deep reflection for students.
  • Events, including speakers, workshops, and other events hosted by the Center to enrich the collegiate experience for our students as well as our faculty and staff. The Humanities Center also co-sponsors and support other events across the university to elevate study of human thought, culture, and history.
  • Collaborations across the university, stretching our investment in the humanities work across all the academic units as well as other partners on and off campus.
  • Research opportunities, interdisciplinary collaborative work, engaged pedagogy, and other funding to support the work of our faculty and forge meaningful connections within all areas of humanities-focused study.
