This year isn’t just the LGBTQ+ Center’s 10th year in operation; it’s also our first opportunity to participate in WVU Day of Giving. For the last DECADE, we’ve done a lot to help folks at WVU get the most out of their education, and there’s still so much to do! From sending students to STEM conferences where they can network with multidisciplinary professionals from all over the US, to providing emergency funds as a part of a critical safety net to our most vulnerable students when things go really wrong, we’re here for every Mountaineer. We’ve spent the last ten years supporting hundreds of collaborations, sparking tens of thousands of interactions, promoting research opportunities, spreading meaningful best practices, and providing more services to individual students than we could count. And, on top of all that, we still end every year with Lavender Graduation, the happiest achievement ceremony on campus! We definitely keep busy around here.
Here’s the thing… We can only do what we do because of your help. Almost all of our funding comes from regular people who work hard for their money. It’s tons of small donations from hundreds of very generous friends who understand the value of having resources in a support system. It’s what lets us provide these experiences for students. Our work means a lot for all sorts of people at WVU, and it’s only possible because of you. Yes, you specifically.
So, we’re asking for your help to keep those resources freely available to all students. We want to expand our impact by 10x what we can do now, with 10x our annual budget – our goal is to raise $50,000 in a single day. Ambitious? Absolutely! But every Mountaineer deserves to feel welcome here. Plus, celebrating our 10th year in service to WVU? It’s worth going above and beyond.
