WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s, West Virginia’s only Children’s Miracle Network hospital, is proud once again to host Mediathon alongside WVU Day of Giving. During this impactful day, you will hear powerful patient stories, take part in special challenges, and help us raise vital funds to help improve the health of women and children across our state and beyond.
Why your support matters:
We believe that children and expectant mothers should never have to travel far from home to receive the best possible care. Our mission is to build healthier futures and provide world-class, compassionate care to every West Virginian, regardless of their ability to pay.
When you give, you do more than make a donation. You brighten a hospitalized child’s day. You ease the burden on families. You bring innovation to our region. Most importantly, you help create healthier tomorrows for thousands of children.
How you can make a difference:
Making a gift to one of our priority funds is a wonderful way to support WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s.
Greatest Needs – Fund #2V127
Give hope. Give healing. WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s mission is to see no child left untreated. That will happen because of people just like you -- our generous supporters -- who help us purchase life-saving equipment, address pressing healthcare needs in our communities, and support the emotional well-being of our young patients. Donate to our Greatest Needs Fund and help the women and children we treat each day.
Child Life – Fund #2V497
Give a teddy bear. Give Legos. Give a smile. For many children, the hospital can be an unknown place that brings feelings of uncertainty, stress, and anxiety. Donations to the Child Life Program bring comfort, distraction, and meaningful experiences to help children -- from infants to adolescents -- feel comfortable and safe while receiving treatment. When you give to our Child Life Program, you’re directly bringing hope, healing, and comfort to the children we serve.
Comfort Fund – Fund #2W921
Give a warm cup of coffee. Give a hot meal. Give a comfortable bed. An extended hospital stay can bring unique logistical challenges for families. Donating to the Comfort Fund within the Hostetler Family Resource Center ensures that families are equipped with free resources, from meal vouchers, to gas cards, and hotel stays. Join us as we support the needs of families throughout their journey.
Cure Kids Cancer – Fund #2W378
This Fund supports psychosocial resources for children and families, including:
- A one-week residential summer camp for children with cancer or bleeding disorders (Camp Winaca HemoVon, accredited by the American Camp Association).
- Gas cards to assist with travel to and from treatment.
- Special milestone celebrations, including end of treatment and birthday parties, plus the Fall Family Harvest Celebration.
- Ongoing participation in the Children's Oncology Group, advancing cutting-edge pediatric cancer research and care.
Grow Hope, Grow Wheeling – Fund #2W1826
With your support through this fund, we will bring hope and healing to children through the completion of our new, state-of-the-art pediatric outpatient center. This facility will provide separate space for sick visits and well visits, as well as an after-hours clinic where parents will find comfort in having their ill or injured children seen by the region’s best pediatricians. This new center will be a space for WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s to provide advanced specialty care for the more vulnerable population, so children and parents can remain close to home and receive the care they need.
