By supporting the WVU Cancer Institute (WVUCI) on Day of Giving, you empower our teams to enhance treatment options and outcomes, while lessening the burden of patients across West Virginia and beyond. You help us spark hope for brighter futures.
How can you support our work?
Pie a Provider
Did someone say pie? We’re putting the pie back in fundraising. Join us in person or via Facebook on March 25 for a special Day of Giving event at the Don Hoylman Family Atrium at the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center in Morgantown. We will host our first-ever “Pie a Provider” to raise funds for our Ruby Comfort Fund (2U167). A welcome reception begins at 4 p.m., followed by the pie event at 4:30 p.m.
Donations to participating ambassadors will trigger some beloved physicians to receive a pie to the face. Even if you can’t attend in person, you can follow along on our Facebook livestream where you also will be able to make donations online to support the Comfort Fund.
Honor a loved one or support one of our featured funds
Consider honoring someone in treatment or memorializing a loved one by giving to the cancer fund of your choosing. Or select one of the featured funds highlighted below.
Sara Eilzabeth Cooper Fund - 2W2058
• Established in memory of Sara Elizabeth Cooper by her loving family, this fund supports the WVU Cancer Institute with preference for research or programming in support of adolescent and young adult cancers/patients. Gifts made in conjunction with Day of Giving are particularly meaningful as the family marked the 25th anniversary of Sara’s passing at only 17 years of age just last September. In the short year between her diagnosis and death, her family had to seek care for her in three different states. The ability for patients to be treated in their local communities, surrounded by family and friends and their support systems, is so important. It's the family’s desire to help neighbors and friends in West Virginia receive the expert care they need, right here in "Almost Heaven."
WVU Cancer Institute’s Mobile Lung Cancer Screening Unit - 2W1226
• We need your help to keep LUCAS rolling down our country roads! More West Virginians die from lung cancer than colorectal, prostate, and breast cancer combined. The WVU Cancer Institute’s mobile lung cancer screening unit, LUCAS, travels to underserved communities throughout West Virginia, providing state-of-the-art screening in our communities. Since LUCAS first hit the road in 2021, it has identified at least 74 lung cancers and 13 additional cancers. Gifts supporting the purchase of fuel and maintenance for the unit go a long way in ensuring its wheels keep turning to serve West Virginians.
The Connection 304 Fund - 2W1977
• The Connection 304 Fund, established by the men behind the beloved 3 Guys Before the Game podcast, is dedicated to supporting the WVU Cancer Institute by channeling resources toward its most urgent priorities. The fund empowers the WVU Cancer Institute to address critical needs, expand innovative treatments, and strengthen its programs, ultimately elevating cancer care for the community by constructing the forthcoming Hazel Ruby McQuain Cancer Hospital and pursuing NCI Designation.
Every gift counts. In addition to total dollars raised, the number of gifts helps the Cancer Institute compete for WVU Foundation leaderboard funding. So, participation at any level makes a meaningful impact.
As always, thank you for supporting our mission and the patients we serve.
