Support the Libraries by donating to our greatest needs and areas of focus using Friends of WVU Libraries - 2V997
As WVU moves forward with new goals and opportunities to increase student success and engagement with its research and land-grant missions, the Libraries continues to play a crucial role in meeting the growing information and cultural needs of our campus and community. That’s why we’re focused on:
- Advancing digital preservation. Archives and special collections housed within WVU Libraries document local, state, and national history. Though physical collections of books and paper require stable environmental controls and professional care for preservation, the increasing volume of digitized and born-digital collections demand even more intentional maintenance and careful stewardship — or risk being lost forever.
- Transforming and enhancing spaces. COVID is long in the rearview mirror, but it left behind new expectations for service. WVU Libraries now faces a growing demand for cultural events and spaces that offer onsite and online options concurrently. In addition to our own programming, WVU Libraries also supports event needs across campus, including those of the Office of the Provost, academic departments, student organizations, and more. We also need to address the sustainability and environmental demands of our print collections and are gearing up for major upgrades to our historic Wise Library stacks that host our dearest and most unique materials essential to the preservation of our state and regional legacy. Help us meet needs for people, spaces, hybrid options, and preservation and access to collections.
- Investing in a skilled, future-ready library workforce. Continuous learning and retooling of skills are essential for library employees as new technologies emerge and the needs of our users evolve. Professional development for our library workforce is crucial for our ability to excel amongst Big 12 Conference Schools and other land-grant libraries.
