The Department of Emergency Medicine Endowed Fund provides lasting, sustainable support for the mission and growth of the Department of Emergency Medicine. Contributions to this fund strengthen our ability to deliver exceptional patient care, advance medical education, and support innovative research that serves communities across West Virginia and beyond.

Stephen C. Rector Visiting Lectureship & Resident Education - 3V184

Created in memory of our founding Chairman, Stephen C. Rector, MD, this fund supports visiting lecturers and educational initiatives that enrich resident training and elevate academic excellence within the department. Through continued investment, we honor Dr. Rector’s vision by fostering innovation, advancing scholarship, and preparing the next generation of emergency physicians to lead with expertise and compassion.

Dr. William D. Rose Prehospital Medicine Endowed Fund – 3V1260

The William A. Rose Lectureship in Prehospital Medicine honors Dr. William A. Rose’s more than 30 years of service advancing emergency and prehospital care in West Virginia. This fund supports an annual lectureship that brings distinguished EMS and Wilderness Medicine leaders to engage faculty and trainees and advance prehospital education, research, and innovation.

Dr. Gregory E. Seftick Wilderness Medicine Fund – 2W549

Established in honor of Greg Seftick, MD—who completed his Emergency Medicine residency training at West Virginia University—this fund preserves his legacy by strengthening training opportunities, expanding outreach initiatives, and enhancing the care provided in austere and remote environments.

DTE Foundation- Prehospital Response Program: Emergency Medicine – 2W1458

Contributions to this fund provide critical resources—including equipment, training materials, and operational support—that strengthen emergency response capabilities before patients ever reach the hospital. By investing in this program, donors help ensure first responders and medical teams are equipped, trained, and prepared to deliver high-quality care in the field.
