For more than 125 years, the WVU Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources has been offering students seemingly endless opportunities for exploration and research.
The College has grown in leaps and bounds since the turn of the century, with more than 4,000 students now enrolled in our seven academic departments. This growth has led to the hiring of additional tenure-track faculty members, as well as construction of our new Advanced Engineering Research Building, which was completed in 2015. It features 63,000 square feet of flexible and environmentally safe laboratory and research space, as well as an 8,000 square foot cleanroom to meet the needs of high-technology learning and discovery. Offices, classrooms, a learning center and space for graduate students occupies 29,000 square feet of the building.
Why we need your support
Our vision is to provide our students with educational programs that are diverse, inclusive and pioneering while preparing them for the opportunities and demands of a global economy. Private charitable gifts from alumni and friends bestow critical resources that help us achieve this vision. And at a time of significant cuts in institutional support from the State of West Virginia, the need for unrestricted charitable gifts has increased.
How you can help
Today, we encourage you to support the Mountaineer spirit and make a gift to one of the Statler College’s priority funds.
Unrestricted gifts provide essential flexibility for the Statler College to meet the economic challenges of decreased State funding and assure future stability of the college.
A continued emphasis on financial aid and merit scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students will help to both ensure affordability and enhance competitiveness for recruiting and graduating our students.
There are nearly 50 student organizations in the Statler College involved in everything from K-12 outreach to making radio contact with the International Space Station. Your gift to our Student Project Fund will allow us to provide more students with hands-on learning experiences that are important to their professional development and future career success.
The funds listed are in need of your support, but with the ever-increasing need for private philanthropic giving, a gift to any department or program with the Statler College will not go unappreciated.
Please know your contribution – of any amount – matters and helps to ensure the College’s continued strength and leadership in engineering education.
