Your support empowers the WVU Cancer Institute to reduce cancer health disparities, remove barriers to cancer care and create a healthier future for all. The WVU Cancer Institute is a place of hope – a place where the state’s top doctors and researchers come together to provide compassionate, high-quality care for a brighter tomorrow.
Gifts from supporters like you equip the Cancer Institute to provide individualized, world-class cancer care close to home. As you consider where to direct your dollars, we encourage you to consider one of the following opportunities:
Cancer Institute Music Therapy Program - 2W1720
• The Music Therapy Program provides support and empowerment to patients while they receive chemotherapy and infusion treatments. Music therapists are trained to use music experiences to support relaxation, alleviate symptoms of treatment, reduce anxiety, improve physical strength and quality of life. The WVU Cancer Institute is determined to expand the program, bringing music therapy to more cancer patients, even more days per week. Support the healing benefits of music therapy and cancer care by supporting the Cancer Institute Music Therapy Fund.
Soup for the Soul Fund - 2W1007
• The Soup for the Soul Program provides free lunches to patients while undergoing chemotherapy and infusion treatments. The Cancer Institute provides nearly 10,000 meals to patients annually. A gift of $5 can provide a meal of nourishment and comfort to a patient fighting cancer through the Soup for the Soul program.
Michael Craig Comfort Fund - 2U167
• The Michael Craig Comfort Fund provides temporary assistance to oncology patients who are receiving their care at the WVU Cancer Institute’s Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center. The fund is utilized directly by patients until they can be linked with appropriate community, state, or national resources. The types of assistance covered are areas of need associated with cancer treatment, including medication costs, lodging, transportation, and other supportive and social services.
WVU Cancer’s Mobile Lung Cancer Screening Unit - 2W1226
• The WVU Cancer Institute's mobile lung cancer screening unit, LUCAS, travels to 42 of West Virginia’s most rural counties, providing state-of- the-art screening closer to home. More West Virginians die from lung cancer than colorectal, prostate, and breast cancer combined. Through the generosity of donations and grant funding, LUCAS provides lung cancer screening, at a rate of up to 27 patients per day, to underserved communities throughout the state.
When you make a gift – no matter the size – you help make an immediate impact for the WVU Cancer Institute.
