Women of WVU is a giving circle of women helping women created through the WVU Foundation in 2014. It is designed to provide women who love our University another way to become engaged. By combining resources through the Women of WVU Enrichment Fund, members create a collective voice and set an example of giving back for generations to come.
The Women of WVU Enrichment Fund was established by the Leadership Council of Women of WVU to benefit female WVU students or any WVU program benefitting women and West Virginia. Each member invests $1,000 annually to the Fund which is intended to support activities that complement, extend, and enhance the academic experiences at West Virginia University.
Through an annual grant process, the fund has supported many projects centered on issues that impact women, including child and dependent care, access to personal care items, food safety and nutrition, substance abuse, diabetes research and education, women’s success in STEM fields, and removing barriers to success.
Just a few recently funded projects include student commissioned portraits of previously unrecognized women who were vital in the growth of WVU, special events teaching women engineers nontraditional skills such as welding, and financial support of innovative ideas of budding young female entrepreneurs.
