School of Medicine - MD Program

The M.D. Program at the School of Medicine focuses on training patient-focused, compassionate future physicians. Our programs allow our students to explore, develop, and chase their passion for serving patients through opportunity. Whether that’s learning from renowned faculty and rare patient cases in state-of-the-art clinics or learning the significance of being the backbone of a community in rural practice, our students graduate fully prepared for their specialized postgraduate training.

One of the biggest ways to support these learners is through a gift that supports scholarship funds. We’re able to attract the best students by helping mitigate medical education costs and student debt. By lowering the student debt, burdens are eased and our learners can focus on learning.

A gift - no matter the size - can defray costs for a student and is ultimately an investment in the future of healthcare in West Virginia.

Funding Priorities:

School of Medicine Scholarships (2S354) – Invest in the future of medicine. Your donation to the School of Medicine Scholarship Fund helps build a brighter future for aspiring clinicians by easing the financial burden they face as future healthcare providers.

STEPS (2W822) –  Give to fund the purchase of new simulation equipment and upgrade manikins in The David & Jo Ann Shaw Center for Simulation Training & Education for Patient Safety (STEPS) where medical students and those in other health care disciplines gain realistic, practical experience in fundamental and sophisticated clinical skills within an interactive, safe learning environment.

Resident Wellness Fund (2W1894): Residency training is exciting and rewarding but can also be challenging physically, mentally, spiritually, and socially. This new Resident Wellness Fund supports various activities our residents have identified as helpful for them to maintain a healthy balance between their work and their personal well-being.

Alumni Association Support Fund (2G001): Provides WVU School of Medicine alumni with opportunities to offer continuing support to the school through their annual gifts. Over the years, our generous alumni have supported student scholarships, white coats for our students, family graduation brunches, professional integrity ceremonies, Match Day events and much more!
