You can still make a gift to the area of WVU that means the most to you!
The Daily Athenaeum and U92-The Moose

Since 1982, U92 the Moose, WVU’s 2,600-watt radio station, has operated out of cramped offices in a back hall of the Mountainlair. The need for more space for a growing staff and upgrades to industry-standard equipment are desperately needed to produce quality programming and prepare students for careers in broadcast. The solution is simple: Move the station into The Daily Athenaeum at 284 Prospect Street.

And while more space and a studio with a street view will be awesome, the real benefit of bringing the two staffs under one roof will be the opportunity to collaborate. The organizations will remain separate but will be able to work together on projects that appear on air, online and in print; they will share a podcasting studio, video equipment, a student sales force and a six-person professional staff.

Why we need your support:

The media industry is constantly evolving, and to provide students opportunities that will make them competitive in the job market, The DA and U92 have to give students access to the equipment and the hands-on experiences they will face in jobs and internships.

Not every student who participates in student media wants a career in the industry, but the skills they learn at The DA and U92: writing, editing, reporting, collaborating, meeting deadlines, creating programming, selling advertising, managing and marketing will prepare them for opportunities in many fields.

How you can help Student Media

The needs of a modern media organization are constantly changing, and your donations will help our students have state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. This fund will assist in the renovation of the DA building that will result in a new main-floor station for U92 with four studios (including one that fronts Prospect Street), all-new digital radio equipment, offices and space for staff to work and chill. We will also expanding our podcasting space for both U92 and the DA to enhance our growing podcasting operations.

The bottom floor of The DA building will be renovated to house Prospect and Price Creative, the creative services firm run by students that provides marketing from brochures to video for clients on and off campus. The goal is to create space for designers and the marketing team, as well as The DA’s advertising staff, that stimulates creativity and innovation and models the professional advertising agency experience.

Other improvements will include enhancing the infrastructure of the building and DA newsroom upgrades.
