Why we need your support
All the WVU LaunchLab Network’s services are free of charge to students. We help any student, in any major, offering guidance throughout the entire innovation process from ideation to commercialization.
Over the last two years, the LaunchLab Network assisted 360 new student ideas and supported 210 student businesses in their development. Our students received close to $178K in funding through grants or pitch competitions.
We are asking you to partner with the LaunchLab Network to help us continue to provide these opportunities. Your monetary donation will be used to directly support our students by providing them with the resources needed for future innovation.
How you can help
One of the biggest components of our free services lies within prototype development, which happens in our Maker Lab. Since our services are free to students, the LaunchLab Network supports the cost of prototype and product development. With the help of donations and sponsorships, the LaunchLab Network will be able to support more student innovations towards commercialization and/or business startups. In addition, we would like to mobilize our prototyping labs throughout the state by creating portable Maker Lab units.
Our Greatest Needs Fund also supports:
The LaunchLab Network Seed Fund is an application-based grant fund designed to support ventures that have been formed and vetted, with student owners who are prepared to work full time on the product or company. Seed funding is appropriate for companies that are pre-revenue and need the funds to complete product development and build their team in preparation for launch.
Pitch Competition Proceeds
The LaunchLab Network hosts several opportunities for student innovators to pitch their ideas for startup funds. These funds are small grants geared towards continued product development and are applied directly to materials or service providers. We also help our students attend national pitch competitions by providing coaching and assisting with transportation cost.
